GAME & WILDLIFE CONSERVATION TRUST

- The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (formerly The Game Conservancy Trust) is an independent wildlife conservation charity which carries out scientific research into Britain’s game and wildlife.

- We advise farmers and land managers on improving wildlife habitats and we lobby for agricultural and conservation policies based on science.

- We employ 17 post-doctoral scientists and 50 other research staff with expertise in areas such as ornithology, entomology, biometrics, mammalogy and agronomics.

- We undertake our own research as well as projects funded by contract and grant-aid from Government and private bodies.

- We spend £2.9 million annually on our charitable objects.

- The Trust is also responsible for a number of Government Biodiversity Action Plan species and is lead partner for grey partridge and joint lead partner for brown hare and black grouse.

If you wish to become a member you can visit the Trust website and apply on-line using the following link: http://www.gct.org.uk/text01.asp?PageId=18

Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust Stand

The 2008 Scottish Game Fair theme, 'Planning for Partridges' , will demonstrate some of the excellent research studies undertaken by the Trust, and how they are translated into practical management techniques for farmers, gamekeepers and land managers. Grey partridges are a Biodiversity Action Plan species and a strong indicator to the health of Scotland’s farmland.  The Central Exhibit in the Trust’s ringside stand will feature live partridges in their natural environment.

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (formerly The Game Conservancy Trust) has welcomed thousands of visitors to learn more about the work of the Trust. One of the main objectives of the Fair is to inform and educate. Through our appealing displays we communicate our practical conservation message.
